The Department represents one of the pioneering entities in agricultural sciences since its foundation in 1872, making it one of the oldest institutions in the world in this field. It has consistently been at the forefront of agricultural research and education, ranking 93rd in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024: Agriculture & Forestry.

The Reggia di Portici, a Royal Palace commissioned by King Charles of Bourbon, is an architectural marvel. Its stunning facade, broad terraces, and elegantly decorated rooms, such as the Chinese Room (Aula Magna), reflect 18th-century Europeans' admiration for Oriental art. The venue is also home to the Botanical Garden, under the guidance of the Department of Agriculture, spanning over 30 hectares. This vast garden, rich with diverse plant species, further enhances the grandeur of the site, providing an inspiring and lush setting for ICDRA 2026.
